Thank You For Your Support!
On behalf of Together For Chile, we would like to thank everyone who attended the Chile 'N' Wines fundrasier, donated to the silent auction, and gave cash donations. Your contribution has made it possible for us to come one step closer to building a school and community centre in one of the areas most devastated by the February 27th earthquake in Chile.

Since its inception in March of this year, Together For Chile has managed to raise $17,000 through the Chile 'N' Wines inaugural fundraiser as well as private donations. This has only been possible because of the support we have received from the Calgary Community.
Every dollar donated goes to help kids who have lost both their homes and their schools on the devastating morning of February 27, 2010. Thanks to the generosity of Calgarians, these children will once again have a school where they can continue their education and their family will have a community centre where they can take refuge, learn new trades, start small businesses and empower their entire community.
Our next Together For Chile fundraisers are:
1)The ticket sales for Global Fest in July/August (see side menu for more info) and
2) Our Film Festival in September.
We are still far from our $300 000 goal but feel confident that with the continued support of the wonderful people of Calgary we will be able to see our community-based project come to fruition.
Thank you for your support. Events & Executive Committee.
PS. If your school or community group would like to hold a fundraiser or receive a tax-deductible receipt for a generous donation, please email info@togetherforchile.com to find out how you can make a difference in the lives of the children of Chile.
The Situation in Post-Earthquake Chile
An earthquake with a magnitude of 8.8-magnitude struck Chile on Saturday February 27, 2010 which was followed by a 125 mile long tsunami and an additional 6.9-magnitude aftershock. The earthquake affected the central regions of Chile including Biobío, Maule, Metropolitan Santiago and Valparaíso. A report from the Ministry of Housing indicates that 1, 500 000 homes suffered some damage and 500 000 homes have been destroyed or suffered serious structural damage. Roughly 1.5 million people have been displaced and among them are 840 000 school-aged children whose homes and schools have been obliterated.
Who is Together For Chile
Together For Chile is a community-based initiative of individual volunteers and private organizations in partnership with non-profit institutions, to construct a school and community centre in one of the most devastated areas. Together For Chile is raising the funds for this project through their partnership with The Calgary Foundation, who is providing tax receipts for donations over $25, and Habitat for Humanity, who will manage the construction and implementation of the community-based project in Chile.
How Together For Chile is helping.
We have a series of events planned for the next year to meet our goal of raising $300,000. And in order to do this we have formed a partnership with The Calgary Foundation who is able to provide our donors with tax receipts (for donations over $25) and directly administers all the donations collected.
Once we have reached our goal The Calgary Foundation will transfer the funds directly to our second partner, Habitat for Humanity who will manage the construction and implementation of the school and community centre we intend to build in an area devastated by the earthquake.
Visit the How To Help page for more information.
